DR USAMA HAMDAN THANKS THE ROTARY CLUB OF CONCORD FOR GLOBAL SMILE SUPPORT

On Feb. 2 the Rotary Club of Concord heard an inspiring report of the results of a project jointly sponsored by the club and the Rotary Club of Trujillo, Peru.  With a Humanitarian Grant awarded by the Rotary Foundation, the clubs were able to assist The Global Smile Foundation in Trujillo in June 2011 when a comprehensive staff of US and Peruvian professionals completed, among other things, 38 cleft palate-related surgeries and 303 dental procedures.  Dr. Usama Hamdan, Otolaryngologist/Facial Plastic Surgeon and Founder of the Global Smile Foundation, presented a slide show with before and after photos of patients whose lives were changed by the project, along with statics illustrating the breadth of the work undertaken.
