Rotary District 7910 held an event in March to celebrate the public relations efforts of Rotarians throughout the district of 54 clubs, because the District leadership firmly believes in the necessity of publicizing the good Rotarians do in order to perpetuate both membership and fundraising abilities.

The climax of the evening was presentation of awards for various benchmarks in public relations.  The Rotary Club of Concord received three awards. They included an award for New Generation Awareness, recognizing the Club’s service to youth, Most Innovative & Unique Public Image Award, for the Club’s participation in Concord’s 375th anniversary celebration, and Best Club Project with an Outside Organization, for its participation with the Scout House in holding a wine tasting to kick off the Scout House’s Capital Campaign. Rotary Club of Concord President Ann Trudeau and PR Chair June Grace received the awards from District 7910 Public Relations Chairman Jim Fusco and District Governor Mike Ellis.

In one part of the event, clubs were invited to display projects of which they were particularly proud.  During the pre-dinner reception, attendees strolled among the tables where ideas for effective service projects and public relations efforts were displayed.

In a move unique to the District Public Relations Committee, there was no dinner speaker.  Rather 17 public relations specialists from various Rotary clubs were allotted seven minutes to present effective projects to the seven Rotarians seated at their table. At the end of each seven-minute period, attendees had to change tables – much like speed dating.  In all, each attendee heard seven of the mini presentations in the one hour allocated to this part of the program.
