Visiting Rotarians & Guests:
Ralph Hammond, Past District Governor and Club Advisor, was our one VR.  Guests included Curtis Blomberg (Therese Oliver), Dryden Chen (Frank Chen), Rob Fallon (Chris Sintros) and David Alkin (Larry Richards). 
 
Question of the Week: 
Ken Marriner asked “What is the name of the Chinese New Year?”  The table answered correctly that is the year of the Sheep.  No fines were paid.
 
Happy or Sad Fines:
Roger Fritz paid a fine because his son is traveling to Germany.  Peter Mahler paid a fine for the successful event held at the new Concord Teacakes commissary.  Karl Kussin paid fines for a trip to Mexico and his son being promoted and moving to Seattle.  Andy Mahoney paid a fine for some excellent skiing at Sunapee during the school vacation week.  Frank Chen paid a fine for the Chinese New Year and the company of his guest.  Hilary Taylor paid a fine for a great night at Concord Teacakes put on by Peter MahlerHelen Halloran paid a fine for a little more snow, because we need it.  Ralph Hammond paid a fine because he’s happy about Concord’s new members.  Steve Levitsky paid a fine for the record high stock market.  Rick Copeland paid two fines for a couple great football (soccer) matches in Europe and his recent trip to the UK.  Therese Oliver paid a fine for the real estate market heating up and the quick sale of her listing.  Sheila Watts paid a fine for having her picture in the paper.
 
Announcements:
Dave Robertson reminded people about the MMAHS Olympics on Saturday at the facility on Baker Ave.  Volunteers needed for set-up and the event.  Helen Halloran introduced a food drive for Open Table that will begin soon.  Look for more details in upcoming meetings about items needed and locations for drop off.  The CCHS Reality Fair is April 7.  More details can be obtained from Leigh Ann Crimmings.  The Annual Rotary Pops Fundraiser is April 10.  Solicit ads for the program book and attend.
 
Special Ceremonies:
Past President Steve Levitsky led the induction ceremony for two new Concord Rotarians.  Erin Duggan, an attorney with Erin C. Duggan Law who lives in Concord, and Diana Shulman of Cambridge Savings Bank who lives in Wayland.  Please make sure to welcome Erin and Diana when you have the opportunity.
 
Sharon Spaulding led a ceremony to recognize three Concord Rotarians for their tenure in the club.  Therese Oliver for ten years, John Lombard for 20 years, and Rick Beers (who’s on vacation) for 30 years.  Each received a framed certificate of service.
 
Program:
Rick Copeland introduced Shaka Hislop, a Concord resident who is an ESPN Soccer analyst and standout former professional soccer player who played for several English professional teams and his native Trinidad & Tobago World Cup squad in 2006. He was the first member of the team's World Cup Squad to be inducted into his country's Sporting Hall of Fame.  Shaka had some good stories of his time growing up in the UK and Trinidad, at Howard University, and as a professional soccer player. Shaka appears as a pundit on ESPN FC, ESPN's daily global football news program.
 
Door Prize:
Shaka drew the ticket and Noel Choquette won.
